Thoughts from the Principal-December

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Break. With Winter Break and the end of first semester just three weeks away, this is a very busy time at the school. Since my last update in late October, we have had our Parent-Teacher Conferences (which were very well attended and productive), Fall Sports came to an end, some of our FFA students attended the National Convention in Indianapolis, the Freshmen FFA students participated in the Creed Speaking contest, we held our school’s annual Veterans Day Program, and Winter Sports are now well underway.
Looking ahead to December, we have Chad Richards and Tucker Louthan teaching our young two-steppers how to perfect their country swing moves as part of our Artist in Residence program, our Drama Department will have their performance on 12/7 @ 7 pm at the Cornerstone, our Music Department will have their Christmas Concert on 12/14 @ 7 pm, our students will be busy taking their mid-year MAPS test to gauge their academic growth so far this year, the FBLA students will be hosting their ‘Santa’s Elves’ event on 12/9, and there are many junior high and high school basketball games scheduled in December. It seems crazy to think that the first semester is already winding down. I look forward to the busy month ahead and finishing the first half of the academic year off strong.
