Wolves of the Month

Wolves of the Month—Natalie and Carson Helling

Natalie and Carson are 10-year-old twins in the 4th Grade. The Helling twins are straight-A students. Carson’s favorite subject is PE, while Natalie prefers Writing. Carson names current teacher, Mrs. Rebekah Wieser, as his favorite, and Natalie lists 2nd Grade teacher Ms. Danielle Olofson and para Mrs. Alyssa Crossland as her favorites. Outside of school, Natalie and Carson have various hobbies and interest, with Carson stating that he loves playing sports, whereas Natalie likes to bake and play the piano. When asked to discuss their role models, Natalie states, “Mrs. Kite is my role model because she is so friendly and really good at guiding kids in the right direction,” and Carson replied, “My role models are Travis Kelce because he is an NFL star and Mr. Johnson because he is always a good sport.” A ‘Fun Fact’ about Carson is that he can “raise one eyebrow and wiggle his ears at the same time,” and Natalie states, “I am one minute older than my fraternal twin, and I can touch my nose with my tongue.”
I asked the twins to discuss some of their accomplishments and Natalie replied, “I have learned how to do a back handspring in gymnastics. I am proud to have learned how to do such a popular and challenging trick.” Carson responded, “Some accomplishments that I am proud of are winning the 3-on-3 basketball tournament and being Wolf of the Month.” When asked about their goals, Natalie shared that she wants “to learn how to play more instruments and save up for a good college”, and Carson has aspirations “to become an NFL star”. Carson offers the following piece of encouragement to his fellow students, “Just keep trying and never give up on your goals.” Natalie states, “We can go far in life and no one can stop us!”
On naming Natalie and Carson ‘Wolves of the Month’, Mr. Johnson said, “The Helling twins are outstanding students. Both Natalie and Carson are extremely friendly, polite, respectful and hard-working. The twins do a great job in and out of the classroom, and I am very excited for their incredibly bright future. My day gets a little better every time I see the twins, as you can’t help but to feel good around them. Carson is about as nice and easy going as they come, unless he is playing sports and then the competitive juices completely take over. It’s nice to see that competitive fire in a future Wolf—he might be one to watch for in the years to come out on the football field and basketball court. While Carson is quite the competitor, Natalie is as sweet and polite as anyone in our school. Without fail, every time I see Natalie around the school, she always has a huge smile on her face and offers a ‘Hello Mr. Johnson’. Natalie has a heart of gold and is a joy to be around. Congratulations Natalie and Carson on being named ‘Wolves of the Month’. You both are doing an outstanding job and I know with your positive attitudes and strong work-ethic you will continue to have great success in the years ahead.” Submitted by Myles Johnson, Principal
