Wolf of the Month-Tatum Soehner

Tatum Soehner - Wolf of the Month Student Profile

Tatum is a 10-year-old, straight-A student in the 5th Grade. Tatum named her kindergarten teacher (and mom), Mrs. Amber Soehner, and current teacher, Mrs. Sue Heath, as her favorites stating “I really like the way Mrs. Heath does fun projects and jokes around. I like my mom because she is my mom and constantly teaches me.” Tatum’s favorite subjects are Writing, Reading, and Social Studies. Some of Tatum’s interests outside of school include volleyball, basketball, swim team, Girl Scouts, and 4-H (where she was Colorado’s Grand Champion in photography last year!). When asked to discuss who she looks up to, Tatum stated, “My role model is my Aunt Kaitlin. She works hard at everything she does and has persevered through many challenges.”
I asked Tatum to discuss an accomplishment, to which she replied, “I am proud that I have memorized my Math facts, because Math is not my most comfortable subject.” Tatum stated that a ‘Fun-Fact’ about herself is that, “I could whistle when I was one and a half years old.” Tatum was asked to discuss her goals and stated, “I want to go to Colorado School of Mines and become an architectural engineer. I want to design a building that can withstand an F-4 hurricane.” Tatum offers the following advice to her fellow students: “Work hard and be kind. Even if you don’t think you can do it, try again.”
On naming Tatum ‘Wolf of the Month’, Mr. Johnson states; “Tatum is doing a great job both in and out of the classroom. She is a hard-worker who takes her academics very seriously. Additionally, she is always extremely polite, respectful, and friendly. Tatum is a great influence in our elementary school and I think even some of our youngest students appreciate and look up to her friendly and good-natured personality. Although typically fairly calculated and reserved, Tatum has just enough spunk (although not as much as her younger sister) and is witty enough to keep you on your toes. Keep up the good work Tatum! Your positive attitude and work-ethic makes your future incredibly bright. I can’t wait to watch you continue to accomplish much in the years to come!
