Wolf of the Month-Jaylyn Kechter

Jaylyn is a 16-year-old Sophomore on the High Honor Roll and 4.0 student.  Jaylyn names Mrs. Kristi Minor (Science) and Mrs. Tara Garton (Spanish) as her favorite teachers, and Spanish and History are her favorite subjects. Jay stated that some of her hobbies and interests outside of school include, “I love to crochet, play the saxophone, sing, do photography, and go on hikesI love sports and being involved in Student Council and FBLA.” Jay names her parents (Brianne and Toby) as her role models and states, “My dad is strong, loving and faithful.  He pushes me to do my best.  My mom is selfless and puts others before herself.  She is kind, gracious, and inspires me through her countless acts of service to others.” Jay shared that a “Fun-Fact” about herself is, “I have been crocheting since I was 10 and have made, and delivered, over 400 hats, 30 headbands, and 10 blankets to an orphanage in Mexico.”

When asked to discuss an accomplishment that she is proud of, Jay responded, “I won the MLB’s Pitch, Hit, and Run Championship 4 years in a row and I’m also proud to have won a scholarship from my Church for completing all the Statements of Faith at the age of 14.”  When asked to discuss her future plans, Jay stated, “I hope to attend a college in Texas and possibly major in Sociology, while also becoming completely fluent in Spanish.”  A piece of advice Jay offers her classmates is, “Live in the moment and take nothing for granted because life can change in an instant.  Be true to yourself and don’t be afraid of rejection.  The right people who love you for you will come into your life and stay!”

Mr. Johnson states, “Jay is a straight-A student and thriving academically, where each of her teachers praise her attitude and work ethic.  Beyond her success in the classroom, she is heavily involved in the school through athletics, FBLA, and Student Council to name just a few examples.  Jay joined our school last year and has been an absolutely great addition. She is constantly full of positive energy and friendly towards all.  Keep up the good work Jaylyn, your future is incredibly bright! You are doing a great job and we are proud to call you a Wolf!”
